Category & Attribute of Superhard Materials in iAbrasive.com

According to Wikipedia, superhard material is a material with a hardness exceeding 40GPa. In the field of abrasives industry, diamond and cBN are widely used currently. Diamond includes Natural Diamond and Synthetic Diamond, while cBN can only be synthetic. Synthetic diamond is the hardest material in manufacturing industry and has been widely used in metallurgy, oil drilling, construction and machinery industry. As for the question of whether PCD and cBN belong to materials or products, iAbrasive.com (http://www.iabrasive.com) puts them in the category of material.

As shown in Figure 1, Superhard Materials include 8 sub-categories.
I. Natural Diamond
Natural Diamond, as a kind of natural abrasives, is very rare in nature. Same as abrasive grains, it also has Grading System and related Available Size.

II. Synthetic Diamond

III. Cubic Boron Nitride
With the similar crystal structure of Diamond and the hardness less than that of Diamond, cBN is usually used as abrasive grains and cutting tools. Until now, there is no natural cBN to be found in nature. As for the category & attribute of cBN, iAbrasive.com refers to that of Synthetic Diamond. Type, Particle Shape, Grading System, Available Size, Metal Coated and Applications are same as that of Diamond. But Color is different from that of Diamond.

IV. PCD/ TCP
PCD/ TCP is the Poly Crystal Diamond sintered under high temperature by putting diamond and bonding agent together, with high heat resistance and high heat stability. It is wide used in oil manufacturing, drilling, diamond manufacturing and machinery manufacturing, etc.
Type: PCD, TSP
Shape: Cube, Cylinder, Disc, Rectangle, Triangle, Spheres, Hexagon, Other
Application: Gem Processing, Drilling Bits, Other
V. PCBN
PCBN is sintered under high temperature by putting cBN and bonding agent together.
Shape: Cube, Cylinder, Disc, Rhombus, Triangle, Hexagon, Other
VI. CVD Diamond
CVD can be used to produce a synthetic diamond by creating the circumstances necessary for carbon atoms in a gas to settle on a substrate in crystalline form.
Shape: Triangle, Square, Round, Bar, Other
VII. Nano Diamond
In iAbrasive.com, there has not been proper category and attribute for Nano Diamond, but it will be added when the posted products are rich.
VIII. Other
In iAbrasive.com, it is not recommended to put the posted products in “Other” category, unless you are sure that you are not able to find the proper category for your products in above 7 categories. The reason is that the products in the category of “Other” will be put at the end of the product list in iAbrasive.com.
